Medieval themed weddings

Many people these days look to recapture the romance of by gone days by holding a wedding with a medieval theme. Perhaps they want a Robin Hood themed wedding where he marries his Maid Marion, or they are simply harking back to the days of the damsel in distress being rescued by her knight in shining armour and being whisked away for a romantic wedding in a wooded glade?

With so much to think about in organising an event of this nature it would be understandable if the style of the wedding invitations was overlooked, or perhaps given thought to only as a last minute thing. After all where do you start looking for an invitation that fits in with the whole renaissance theme, when you are going to spend such a long time looking for the perfect dress and matching wardrobe from the groom and wedding party?

Well this is where we can help you. We have a selection of stationary in our store that caters to those looking for something different, something unusual, either as a reflection of their own quirky style, or to compliment a solid theme.

For example we have a 'Medieval Wedding Invitation' that could be just what you are looking for to compliment your renaissance theme.

Civil Partnerships

It has taken a while for polite society to warm to the idea, and even accept the concept of 'Civil Partnerships'. But, with thanks to a pioneering couple who were 'married' in the Netherlands in 2001, the idea has gradually spread and become accepted across the western world.

The United Kingdom legalised these civil ceremonies in 2006 and since then the number of couples opting to solidify their relationship in this 'official' manner has increased.

However, some couples have found it difficult to organise an event, or find suitable items to be included in such a ceremony, that do not in some way reflect the mixed sex relationships of a traditional marriage, ultimately depersonalising the whole event for the happy couple and taking away a little of its sparkle.

Tailored options are available however, and here we believe everything related to the big day should be a reflection of the couple involved. Take for example our 'Love is' range of invitations. These lovely invitations can be personalised to met your exact needs, allowing you to add a touch of the personal to what can sometimes be a bland, uninspiring card, especially when most invitations cater only to the traditional market.

If you are looking for something inspired, or simply want to make your invitations a piece of original creative work, we can assist you in finding a match to compliment your whole wedding theme.

Traditional Wedding Invitations

The humble wedding invitation has come a long way over the centuries...

The original Town Criers would sing out details of forthcoming marriages as part of their daily news, inviting everybody within earshot to the celebrations – could you imaging doing that in this day and age? Later families of wealth or high standing would commission monks to hand write invitations using their wonderfully detailed calligraphy script, each of which would be sealed with wax bearing the family seal or crest, a practice still continued today by some. Such a detailed , high cost process made the sending of invitations out of the reach of the majority of people, this is until the 1940's.

After WW2 the use of printed invitations became regarded as 'proper or polite etiquette', and to hold a ceremony without first issuing the appropriate stationary was unthinkable.

To recapture some of this traditional formality and original style we have a range of traditional invitations to suit all budgets, for example the traditional 'Special Scroll' invitation for the romance conscious or the 'To Have & To Hold' invitation reflecting classic style.

However you choose to announce your big day, we guarantee we have the stationary you need to say it with style.
